Bruce

This will probably be the first film that you'll see with USB-programmable meat. It shouldn't be the only one - the jaded open-source future that Tom Judd depicts with distinctive line-work, apparently hand-drawn animation, is fascinating as an idea. What happens within it raises all sorts of interesting questions.

Taking cues from the Die Hard films, video-games, Videodrome at one point (or perhaps port), this is entertaining, inventive, and bleak.

It's always a good sign when an audience laughs out loud at things that are meant to be funny, and this is the case for Bruce. Jussi Honka's sound work, particularly towards the end, is well worked, but the visual distinctiveness can be attributed to Judd. With the various themes invoked Bruce invites a sequel, or at least extra credit.
